New Tracks Added Today

Well, it's a sad week in the Blues World.



The Grammy Award Winner, Koko Taylor
passed away June 3, 2009. Known on
Alligator Records as “QUEEN OF THE BLUES”,
we will miss her greatly.

Probably one of her best known songs was
Wang Dang Doodle and I've added that to
the play list today.

Koko, we will miss you, but Heaven has
another Blues Angel!

Getting Up and Running

Well, I've lost about 2 weeks
with hackers and trojans.

Thought getting the Blues City site
back up would cure my own case of the
blues, but I got a little ahead on
that only to have a vicious trojan
on my PC.

It's been lost hours, lost money and
loss of patience in getting the damn
thing off of my computer.

Had to finally just reformat the hard
drive and start over. What a MESS!

So, I'm only partially crippled at this
point but still kickin'.

Hacked Off

Well, it would seem that the Blues City
web site has been hacked.

I looked all through the code but was
unable to determine what was in there
that shouldn't be. The site was putting
out pop up ads and trying (sometime
accomplishing) to put malicious files
on people's computers. Mostly ad ware
and browser hijackers.

I have no idea who did this or why. The
whole "hacker mindset" eludes me completely.

I am working on getting the site up and
running again. Hopefully with a nicer
design, but we will see. An artistic
eye is something that I just don't have.
And that's ok, too. My talents seem to
lie elsewhere.

I'm thinking of putting a video on the
site and changing it each week. Would
embed some blues videos from other
sites. You can just drop by and take
a look at the past and present of blues
music. It'll cut down on your You Tube
time!

Any input on that would be greatly
appreciated.

Blues City is totally NON profit. I
don't make a dime from it. In fact,
it costs me to run it each month.
Anyone knowing of any web designers
out there that are willing to do
some "pity" work, as in freebie,
to help support the preservation of
blues music. Please have them contact

The Road Goes On Forever and The Party Never Ends

So after a warm rest in The Bin, we
awoke to some cold drizzle. The high
that day was 39!

Undaunted by weather, we went sight
seeing in Clarksdale.

So much to see in such a small town.
Just about everything there has to
do with the preservation of Blues
Music. It's like Blues Heaven in
Clarksdale!

We hit the Delta Blues Museum.

WOW!

I could have spent half the day in
this place. So much blues history
right in one museum.

They even have a portion of the cabin
where Muddy Waters lived on Stovall
Farms. And in that little cabin is
a pretty lifelike wax statue of Muddy
sitting there playing a Les Paul.

If you ever find yourself in Clarksdale,
this is one place you definitely want
to have on your itinerary.













Next stop was Cat Head Delta Blues and Folk
Art. This place is packed to the rafters
with Blues "Stuff". You can get Blues
CD's, Blues Videos, T-shirts, mojo bags,
records, you name it, they have a little
bit of everything Blues in here. Be
sure and check out some of the local folk
art in here. It's pretty amazing. I
kept wishing I had an extra grand to
spend.
